In a bid to prioritize food security and agricultural advancement, President Bola Tinubu unveiled his administration’s ambitious plan to make Nigeria a net exporter of food.
The declaration was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Global Tijaniyya Movement, led by Khalifa Muhammad Mahe Niass, at the State House in Abuja on Sunday, February 11.
President Tinubu underscored the importance of revolutionizing agriculture to achieve self-sufficiency in food production and boost Nigeria’s status as a significant exporter of agricultural products. His administration aims to achieve this through aggressive mechanized farming and strategic agricultural initiatives.
The President’s vision encompasses the expansion of farmlands, provision of low-interest loans to farmers, and substantial investments in irrigation infrastructure.
Emphasizing the significance of productivity, President Tinubu stressed the principles of hard work and dedication as integral to achieving prosperity, drawing from his upbringing and cultural ethos.
