Kanja Sesay, the Minister of Energy in Sierra Leone, has tendered his resignation following weeks of electricity crisis in the West African nation. The resignation comes as a response to mounting pressure amid widespread public frustration over prolonged power outages.
In his resignation letter, Sesay expressed his willingness to take full responsibility for the energy crisis that has plagued the country. The move signifies a significant acknowledgment of accountability in the face of ongoing challenges.
The Sierra Leonean government, in a statement addressing Sesay’s resignation, announced that the Energy Ministry will now fall under the direct supervision of President Julius Maada Bio. Additionally, two other officials will assist the President in overseeing the ministry’s operations.
