Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has condemned the looting of a warehouse in the Gwagwa-Tasha area of Abuja, stating that the incident goes beyond hunger and constitutes criminal behavior.
Mahmoud made this statement following her assessment visit to the looted warehouse, where she observed extensive damage caused by the looters. She expressed her dismay at the wanton destruction of property, noting that not only were food items stolen, but the looters also vandalized infrastructure such as roofs, windows, fences, and machinery.
During her inspection, the Minister highlighted the severity of the damage inflicted by the hoodlums, emphasizing that the entire warehouse had been ransacked, leaving nothing behind.
She described the incident as unfortunate and expressed disappointment with the behavior of the youths involved.
Mahmoud further revealed that the warehouse was being restocked in preparation for the distribution of palliatives to all six area councils in the FCT, in line with a directive from President Bola Tinubu.
