The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed 50 outlets in Kaduna due to concerns about selling unhygienic edible oils.
The move, as announced through NAFDAC’s official X account, is aimed at mitigating potential health hazards related to contamination.
The director of the North-West zonal office, Mrs Josephine Dayilim, highlighted the risk of consuming oil processed in unsanitary conditions during a sensitisation workshop designed for dealers.
She further underlined the dangers of foodborne illnesses such as food poisoning, gastroenteritis, as well as cancer caused by inadequate processing and the use of corrosive equipment.
