Kwara to Enforce Mass Arrests In Fight Against Indiscriminate Dumping

In a bid to tackle the escalating issue of indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Ilorin metropolis and across the state, the Kwara State Commissioner for Environment, Shehu Ndanusa Usman, has said that the government will begin a mass arrest of environmental offenders.

Usman revealed this during an official visit to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim ZuluGambari stressing that advocacy and sensitization is needed to ensure the masses desist from violating environmental laws such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse on road medians, inside canals and other unauthorised dumping sites.

During the visit to the Emir’s palace, Usman expressed his unwavering commitment to eradicating the menace of indiscriminate dumping, acknowledging the vital role played by the Emir and the need for royal support in this battle.

In response, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim ZuluGambari, commended the State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the administration’s commendable achievements before expressing his full support for the campaign and pledging the Traditional Council’s unwavering assistance in ending indiscriminate refuse dumping in Ilorin metropolis.
