In a momentous event marking the 13th Convocation Ceremony at Al-Hikmah University in Adeta, Ilorin, the Chancellor, Alhaji Sayyu Dantata, unveiled the institution’s ambitious plans to introduce Engineering and Medical programs, expanding its academic offerings beyond the existing seven disciplines.
While expressing enthusiasm for the new programs, the Chancellor acknowledged the financial challenges associated with such expansions. He appealed to potential sponsors, philanthropists, and organizations to come forward and contribute to the realization of these initiatives, ensuring that Al-Hikmah continues to be a center of academic innovation.
“Going forward, the university is now vigorously putting in place modalities to satisfy the criteria for the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering as well as medical school, inshallah. However, infrastructural deficiencies due to *quantity* of funds is our major challenge. The university is therefore in dire need of assistance to make teaching, learning and research conducive to our students across our 3 campuses at Adeta, Atere where we are and at Igbeja. In particular, we need sponsors to establish these important faculties.”
“The above information are aimed at encouraging friends of this university, our well-wishers, our parents and the alumni to key into the development agenda of this university. As the chancellor, I shall take a leading role to actualise the realisation of these objectives, inshallah.”
In a follow-up statement, Professor Noah Yusuf, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, provided details on the graduating class.
He said a total of 1,584 students successfully completed their studies, encompassing both undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate diploma programs.
The Vice Chancellor highlighted the academic achievements of the graduating class, noting that 26 students earned first-class honors, while 472 achieved Second Class Upper honors.
Additionally, he added that 600 students graduated with Second Class Lower honors, and 109 students earned Third Class honors.
“Your excellency sir. Kindly permit me to present the summary of the result our graduands for the 13th convocation ceremony. In all, the university is graduating a total of 1,207 undergraduates, 343 postgraduates, and 31 diploma certificate holders. The breakdown is as presented below.”
“Undergraduates: First class, 26 in number. Second class upper division, 472 in number. Second class lower division, 600 in number. And third class, 109.”
“Postgraduates: For PHD, we have 27. And for the masters, we have 213. For the postgraduate diploma certificate, we have 405, and for the diploma certificate, 31. In total, we have 1,584.”
