As Easter celebrations unfold, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, has extended warm felicitations to the Christian community within the institution and across the globe.
In a statement released by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, Prof. Egbewole emphasized the enduring lessons embedded in the events leading to the establishment of Easter festivities.
Expressing gratitude for the preservation of lives within the University community to witness this year’s Easter celebrations, Prof. Egbewole highlighted the significance of unity and fraternity demonstrated by the confluence of Easter with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
He underscored the universal message of unity, stressing that humanity, regardless of religious affiliation, is united in the glorification of the Almighty.
Reflecting on the timeless attributes of Jesus Christ, Prof. Egbewole urged Christians to emulate his virtues of honesty, humility, simplicity, piety, generosity, sacrifice, and perseverance in both personal and public spheres. He emphasized that embodying these values is crucial not only for fostering peace within the nation but also for catalyzing rapid development.
Assuring members of the University community of fairness and equality under his administration, Prof. Egbewole reiterated his commitment to upholding principles of justice and inclusivity, irrespective of regional, tribal, or religious affiliations.
