As Christians worldwide prepare to celebrate Easter, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a stern reminder to motorists and road users to adhere strictly to road safety measures to avoid loss of lives and properties during the festive period.
The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dauda Biu, emphasized the importance of following traffic regulations and safety guidelines, stating that it is crucial for ensuring the safety of all road users.
In a congratulatory message to Christians on this year’s Easter celebration, Biu stressed the need for motorists to imbibe the teachings of love and compassion exemplified during the Holy Week and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Biu, in a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Jonas Agwu, expressed concern over the rampant loss of lives and properties on the nation’s highways due to people’s impatience and disregard for safety protocols. He underscored that adherence to safety rules is essential in preventing accidents and preserving lives.
“While felicitating with Christians across the country,” Biu urged, “faithful as well as members of the general public should not jettison the rules in the course of the celebration but continue to observe them in order to build on the gains so far made by the corps in its mission to make the highways safer for all to use.”
The FRSC boss called on Christians to utilize the Easter period to offer special prayers for the nation’s well-being and reiterated the agency’s commitment to sustaining its successes in reducing road crashes.
He assured the public that commanding officers across the country have been directed to remain vigilant during the celebrations, providing necessary support and attending to emergencies promptly.
Furthermore, Biu appealed for collaboration from members of the public, urging them to report any road-related emergencies promptly to the FRSC.
