Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne has warned her teammates not to take their WAFCON 2024 qualifiers against Cape Verde for granted.
The Falcons will entertain Cape Verde in the first leg of their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying contest at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Thursday, with the reverse fixture slated for Praia on Tuesday.
The overall winners will compete at the 2024 WAFCON finals to be hosted by Morocco and Payne stated that the Super Falcons are focused on earning a place in the competition.
Payne said that the team will make it difficult for the opponents by keeping the ball and sticking to the game plan.
“I haven’t heard much about them, they are a little bit unknown in terms of how they play. We will see some videos to know more about them,”
‘We just build on what we normally do and focus on ourselves. Our way of playing is keeping the ball.
“We believe if we have the ball it will be difficult for the opponent to score. We will try and stick to our plan and get a win.”
