More details have emerged regarding the impeachment of the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Kunle Oluomo, as lawmakers reveal their dissatisfaction with his leadership. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has been appointed as the new Speaker following Tuesday’s impeachment.
Dailypost reported the allegations against Oluomo range from financial fraud to poor leadership, with lawmakers asserting that his actions led to the loss of trust within the assembly.
Shedding light on the situation, Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, representing Obafemi Owode Constituency, disclosed that the primary reason for Oluomo’s removal was his alleged mismanagement of funds provided by the state governor, Dapo Abiodun.
Kayode revealed that Oluomo had consistently informed lawmakers that the governor was not allocating funds to the House. However, upon investigation, members discovered that the governor had indeed been providing financial support, which Oluomo allegedly embezzled for personal gain.
The lawmaker further accused Oluomo of sowing discord among the assembly members, claiming that he consistently incited them against one another.
“We never wanted him, but the leadership of the party thought he was a former Speaker, so we should allow him to continue as a Speaker. We all agreed as faithful party persons.
“Now the situation is: Oluomo will go everywhere; he will come to us as members and tell us the governor has not approved for us any money, the governor has not given us any money, and that we should manage.
