In a bid to curb the hardship related to the removal of fuel subsidy, the Kwara State Government has begun distribution of maize to different stakeholders in the poultry and fishery sectors at a discounted rate.
In a statement jointly signed by members of the Kwara State Palliative Committee, Dr. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi and Binta Abubakar Mora, the committee said that the maize which is being given to the poultry farmers is aimed at reducing the challenges faced by the farmers in producing feeds for their livestock.
The palliative committee headed by former Commissioner of Police Ebunoluwa Rotimi Adelesi had earlier held a stakeholders’ meeting with All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Poultry Farmers Association (PAN) and other stakeholders interested in the maize based on the modalities spelt out by the Committee.
The Kwara State government, like other states, had recently purchased the maize from the national strategic grain reserve through the Central Bank of Nigeria.
