The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to direct the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology to ensure that its Weight and Measure Department monitor petrol stations to adhere to standard weight and measure in dispensing the commodity to motorists in the state.
This followed the adoption of a motion without notice titled “Need for Government to control the shortchange of consumers by petroleum products marketers in Kwara State ” sponsored by the member representing Kaiama-Kemaji-Wajibe Constituency, Abdullahi Danbaba.
The House also implored the Governor to direct the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology to collaborate with the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC in the state to ensure sanity in the operation of petrol stations in the state.
The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu also called on Kwarans not to hesitate to report any act of shortchange by petrol stations to the concerned government agencies for redress.
The Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu also confirmed the appointment of Alhaji Kareem Ahmed Olayiwola as substantive Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
