The Diocesan Bishop, Church of Nigeria Anglican communion, Diocese of Igbomina West in Kwara, Right Reverend Olajide Adebayo, has charged Christian faithfuls to remain steadfast and believe Nigeria will rise again despite the myriads of challenges confronting the nation.
He said no matter the challenge, those who believe and stand firm in The Lord will overcome the travails and rise again as the Israelites did.
Bishop Adebayo made the call at the weekend while delivering the Bishop’s charge at this year’s Second Session of Fourth Synod held at Saint Barnabas Anglican Church, Sanmora, Irepodun local government area of Kwara state.
The theme for the synod was, “We rise and Stand firm,” with the bible reading found in the book of Psalm 20 vs 7&8.
Adebayo said the church is extremely concerned about the state of the nation, especially the seeming indifference of the Nigerian authority in the face of insecurity, criminality, extreme poverty and corruption in the country.
The Anglican bishop asked the federal government to hearken to the call for restructuring and total constitution review to ensure independence for all tiers of government.
The church also declared support for the ban on open grazing and creation of state police.
The cleric who later spoke with Royal Times News, asked the Nigerian government to declare a day of thanksgiving in Nigeria, in a move to seek God’s face and its divine intervention in the state of the nation.
Adebayo said Nigeria needs to emulate the United States of America, who despite its advancement still recognizes God as the ultimate and has devoted every fourth Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day for all Americans.
