The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers says it will boost professionalism in the industry.
The newly elected President of the NCRIB, Babatunde Oguntade who gave the assurance while making his inaugural speech at his investiture as the 22nd president of the council, said he would sustain legacies laid by his predecessors as part of his eight-point agenda during his tenure.
Oguntade said, “It is no longer news that the hallmark of all professions is the continuous acquisition of knowledge and in fact openness to new and evolving knowledge. In this regard, the insurance broking profession can definitely not be an exception.
“This tenure would open channels of training for members both within and outside the country while reinforcing ties with already existing institutions in Nigeria and internationally. The Council under this tenure would also open up relationships with new institutions that would be of beneficial effect to the insurance broking body, more so that we are the main professionals in the insurance value chain.
“The registered insurance broker under my tenure would be an encyclopedia of knowledge and professionalism. As commenced by the immediate past leadership, this regime would see to the sustenance of the use of professional seals by brokers to stave off charlatans from our practice and enhance the overall corporate reputation of the Council.
He added that other plans were focus on financial solvency, strategic government and institutional relations, mentoring, corporate visibility sustenance, and international collaboration.
