A devastating fire in Valencia, Spain, has claimed at least four lives with up to 15 individuals still missing, according to emergency services.
The inferno tore through two connected apartment complexes in the Campanar neighborhood, leaving a 14-story building and its adjoining structure engulfed in flames.
Experts revealed that the rapid spread of the blaze was exacerbated by highly flammable cladding on the buildings, as over 20 fire crews battled the flames which were aggravated by strong winds.
The affected complex housed 450 residents across 138 flats.
Tragically, 14 people, including six firefighters and a child, sustained injuries.
The area has now been cordoned off, as displaced individuals are being accommodated in hotels.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed solidarity with those affected, and likewise, Valencia’s mayor has announced official days of mourning for the city will be declared.
