The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sued the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over the alleged failure to account for two point zero four billion dollars and one hundred and sixty-four billion naira in missing oil revenues.
In the suit filed at the Federal High Court Abuja, SERAP is seeking an order compelling the NNPCL to explain the whereabouts of the funds as documented in the 2020 Auditor-General’s report.
The report alleges the NNPCL failed to remit the monies into the Federation Account, possibly diverting them.
SERAP urged the NNPCL to hand over suspected perpetrators to anti-graft agencies for investigation and prosecution, while ensuring full recovery and remittance of the missing funds.
