Thousands of displaced individuals are fleeing the city of Wad Madani in Sudan as the conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) reaches the city.
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has established a base in the east of Sudan’s second-largest city, forcing already displaced people to escape.
Videos on social media depict crowds of people, many seeking refuge from violence in Khartoum, packing up their belongings and leaving on foot.
The Norwegian Refugee Council’s Sudan director, William Carter, describes the situation as the war following displaced individuals to Madani, eroding one of Sudan’s last safe havens.
