The Palestinian embassy in Cairo says it has been informed by Egyptian authorities that Palestinians stuck in the northern part of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, which borders Gaza, can “voluntarily return” on Friday.
The mission added in an online statement that onwards Egyptian authorities have confirmed that others stranded in Cairo or other Egyptian governorates will be allowed to voluntarily return as of Saturday,25th of November .
Report gathered that there are over nine hundred Palestinians stranded in El Arish, the capital city of northern Sinai, according to Kamal al-Khatib, the Palestinian embassy’s delegate at the Rafah border crossing.
The planned repatriation comes after Israel and Hamas reached a mediated deal involving a pause in fighting and exchange of captives being held in Gaza and Palestinians in Israeli prisons.
