Premier League strugglers Sheffield United have sacked Paul Heckingbottom and appointed former manager Chris Wilder as his replacement.
Sheffield are bottom of the Premier League, four points from safety after losing eleven of their opening fourteen games.
Heckingbottom, appointed on a permanent basis in November 2021, guided the club back to the top flight by finishing second in the Championship last season.
Wilder, who said the opportunity was one he could not turn down, will take charge for Wednesday’s home fixture against second-placed Liverpool
