Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham has been slapped with a two-match ban in La Liga following his red card during the match against Valencia over the weekend.
The 20-year-old midfielder was sent off after an intense confrontation with referee Jesus Gil Manzano, who controversially blew the final whistle just moments before Bellingham scored what could have been the winning goal for Real Madrid.
The Spanish Football Federation’s competitions committee confirmed on Wednesday that Bellingham’s suspension stems from “attitudes of contempt or disregard towards referees, directors, or sports authorities.”
In addition to the ban, Bellingham has been fined 600 euros, with his club also fined 700 euros for the incident.
