Taribo West picks Omeruo as the stand out defender in the World Cup

Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has picked Kenneth Omeruo as his standout defender in the Nigeria squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

West, who featured for Nigeria in two World Cups in 1998 in France and 2002 in Korea/Japan, stated that Omeruo’s inclusion in the defence after the 2-0 loss to Croatia strengthened the defence.

He also said Leon Balogun and Ekong did well but the inclusion of Kenneth Omeruo ensured that the team was not caught out in set-pieces and dead balls.

He also said he hopes the whole team will step up and get the country another Africa Cup of Nations title

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan defender also reserved praise for Ahmed Musa and Oghenekaro Etebo saying Musa too was the best player in attack scoring twice in three games. Not many gave him a chance but he proved himself scoring twice just as Etebo also did well in the middle.
