In a bid to address the pressing economic challenges facing Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has initiated the establishment of two key bodies, the Presidential Economic Coordination Council (PECC) and the Economic Management Team Emergency Taskforce (EET).
Newsmen gathered these entities aim to enhance economic governance frameworks and foster coordinated planning and implementation of economic strategies.
According to a statement by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential Economic Coordination Council will be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima serving as Vice-Chairman.
Additionally, selected members of the organized private sector, including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Tony Elumelu, Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu, Ms. Amina Maina, and Mr. Begun Ajayi-Kadir, will join the council for a specified period.
Meanwhile, the Economic Management Team Emergency Taskforce (EET) is tasked with formulating and implementing a consolidated emergency economic plan.
The Economic Management Team Emergency Taskforce is mandated to present a comprehensive economic intervention plan for 2024 to the PECC, covering the next six months, for immediate implementation within two weeks of its inauguration
