Chief Awoyemi Abimbola, the Oluawo of Erin-Ile in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has called upon relevant stakeholders involved in the selection of the new Elerin of Erin-Ile to expedite the process.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the delay in appointing the new monarch, Chief Awoyemi highlighted the importance of accelerating the procedure during an address to journalists at his residence, Oluawo Close, Erin-Ile town.
“I wish to commend all for sacrificing your time and resources for the assignment, but effort should be redouble so that the new ruler will be out in place” . He said
As one of the kingmakers in the community, the Oluawo of Erin-Ile urged all parties involved in the selection process to hasten their efforts. He emphasized that the Ifa oracle holds the responsibility of appointing the new Elerin of Erin-Ile following established procedures by the kingmakers.
According to him, “it’s over one year now that the former ruler of the town,late Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusookun died .
“Since the traditional ruler died , those interested have shown interest but the appointment of new ruler to fill the vacant seat of the Elerin of Erin-Ile is long over due”.
Appealing to chiefs and kingmakers, Chief Awoyemi stressed the importance of prompt action in selecting the new Elerin of Erin-Ile to facilitate community progress. He urged against sentiments, corruption, nepotism, and religious barriers in the selection process.
Furthermore, Chief Awoyemi disclosed that certain issues have been brought to the attention of relevant stakeholders in the palace to aid in the selection process.
Additionally, he called for support from all sons and daughters of Erin-Ile, especially those in the diaspora, to invest in the town for its growth and development. Chief Awoyemi highlighted Erin-Ile’s strategic location, favorable climate, and fertile land as conducive factors for business ventures.
The late Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, a respected traditional ruler in Kwara State, passed away at the age of 81 in his palace at Erin-Ile in Oyun Local Government Area.
