The staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation were seen in a viral video on social media collecting cash from passengers on-board the Lagos-Ibadan train, a contradiction to the announcement from the Corporation.
Tribune reported that the Nigerian Railway Corporation in January 2022 had revealed plans to introduce e-ticketing onboard the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail.
In a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user named Daramola E. Adenike explained that the railway workers collected cash in transit from passengers onboard the train contrary to the new policy of the Corporation.
According to the X user, “On my way to Lagos from Ibadan today, some Nigerian Railway Corporation employees lured us to board the train without tickets.
Responding to the post on X, the Nigerian Railway Corporation thanked the train user for sharing the video and vowed to investigate the issue.
