The new Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, Mohammed Isyaku has assured residents that he will tackle criminal activities in the state.
Isyaku, speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo on Friday, also assured that he will ensure proactive policing in the state by engaging in constant raids of black spots and criminal hideouts.
Isyaku revealed that part of his tactics in tackling the menace of crime would be to engage with other security agencies and community stakeholders, adding that he has directed all police formations within the state to draw up action plans to actualise the mission which is aimed at instantly arresting prevalent crimes in their areas to the barest minimum.
While asking for the support of the government and residents of the state, Isyaku promised to deliver professional leadership and also appealed for constructive criticism and pledged to entrench a good working relationship with the state government.
He said, “I want to clearly state that as the chief law enforcer of the state, my mission is to bring to reality the vision of the Inspector-General of Police of zero tolerance to corruption, a secured environment for citizens to thrive, policing with International best practices, upholding the Rule of Law, and Respect for fundamental Human Rights of all citizens.”
“I received briefings on the security state of the Command, especially with respect to pockets of prevalent crimes such as: Cultism, Rape/ Defilement, Land Grabbing, Communal clashes etc., which I believe are surmountable with determined support of the good people of the State and you as the Fourth Estate of the Realm.”
“As such and as a veritable point to launch my strategy, I have directed all formations to draw up action plans to actualize this mission that will instantly arrest prevalent crimes in their areas to the barest minimum.”
“We shall be proactive in our policing by embarking on constant raiding of black spots/criminal hideouts, based on intelligence at our disposal.”
