Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been appointed as the Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the National Economic Council (NEC).
The announcement was made during the 138th meeting of the NEC, conducted virtually, by Vice President Kashim Shettima GCON.
The newly formed committee is entrusted with the crucial responsibility of crafting a comprehensive roadmap to address various economic challenges facing the nation.
Among the key areas of focus for the committee are the formulation of strategies to manage the petroleum subsidy, development of a framework for wage negotiations, effective exchange rate management, and ensuring fiscal consolidation sustainability.
Additionally, the committee will address critical issues such as liquidity management, inflation control, medium-term investment, and fostering growth.
Fiscal transparency and accountability will be emphasized, and a strategic approach to addressing a potential state of emergency on food production for the year 2024 will also be a key priority.
