The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has conveyed warm and joyous greetings to Christians and all Kwarans as they celebrate Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.
In a message signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyments), the party acknowledged the dedication of Christians in Kwara to a peaceful coexistence and urged them to intensify prayers for divine intervention to restore the state to its prosperous roots.
The party’s message highlighted the significance of reflecting on the teachings of Jesus Christ during the Christmas celebration. It emphasized Christ’s embodiment of love, compassion, and selfless service, values that transcend time and inspire individuals to become better versions of themselves.
“In the spirit of Christmas, we encourage everyone to be steadfast in prayer for a better Kwara and a government that prioritizes shared prosperity for all. Let the teachings of Christ guide us towards a future of hope, where our collective efforts shape a community that values the welfare of every citizen,” the statement urged.
Addressing the challenges facing the state, including recent decisions not aligned with the aspirations of the people, the PDP expressed concern over proposed expenditures, such as the N17.8 billion earmarked for the renovation of Kwara Hotel.
The party also raised awareness about what it perceived as reckless spending by the Abdulrazaq government.
“We believe that by working together and rejecting those who seek to exploit our collective heritage, we can forge a brighter path forward,” the statement asserted.
In the context of Christmas celebrations, the Kwara PDP urged the state government to prioritize the security of lives and property, especially in areas plagued by incidents of kidnapping and banditry.
The party called for unity among the people to overcome challenges and collectively build a Kwara that serves the interests of its citizens.
