With the resumption of primary and secondary schools in the state, some Kwara students have bagged a scholarship award for performing exceptionally in their academics.
The scholarship was given to the students by the Tajudeen Olesin Foundation at the closing ceremony of the 2023 edition of Tajudeen Olesin free summer lesson and award of scholarship to outstanding students held over the weekend at Government Day Secondary School, Amule, in Ilorin.
Speaking at the event, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Secretary to the state government, Prince Mahe Abdulkadir commended the financier of the award for his consistency in human capacity and community development.
“Your consistency and commitment becomes even more evident when one considers the fact that this educational activity is merely one out of several community initiatives you are involved in through your foundation. I really commend your efforts,” he said.
The governor further pointed out that his administration is making the right investments in education in the realization that the state would only have a future if the children have a future.
In his remarks, the founder of the Foundation, Hon. Tajudeen Oleshin extended his heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated teachers and stated that three students in every class will be given scholarships.
He further added that the WAEC and NECO fees for exceptional students will be paid and support will be provided to neighbouring summer coaching programs.
