Labour Protest: Kwara Government Calls For Patience As Nigeria Labour Congress Commence Protest In Kwara

President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, said the Nigeria Labour Unions have commenced nationwide protests on Wednesday at Unity Fountain, Abuja, where workers gathered to hit the streets.

It was gathered that the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Muhammed Ibrahim, representatives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, National Union of Road Transport Workers among others were gathered at the location.

The protest also took place in several states of the federation including Kwara State. However, the movement of patrol vans of men of the Nigeria Police Force, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps was noticed around the Unity Fountain, as part of the measures put in place to ensure that the march was not hijacked by non-state actors.

In Lagos State, the protest which started from the Ikeja under-bridge to the state House of Assembly reportedly resulted in a gridlock in the area.
