The heavy overnight rainfall on Tuesday morning wreaked havoc on several houses along the Alade Babatunde close, situated just off Forest Street, near the former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC office, Ilorin.
According to reports, the situation was aggravated by the absence of adequate erosion control measures which caused the accumulated erosion from Government Day Secondary School and the Overcomers neighborhood to converge on the sector.
The erosion left significant damages, affecting more than ten residential properties as several homes have seen their protective fences crumble. Moreover, the road connecting Forest Street was also affected and has been left impassable, cutting off access to the community.
The residents have, however, appealed to the government for intervention, imploring authorities to assess the extent of the damage and provide much-needed assistance.
