The federal government says it has released three hundred and seventy-five-point-eight million naira to twenty providers of information under the Whistleblower Policy. The Director of Information of the Ministry of Finance, Mr Salisu Dambatta in a statement today in Abuja, said that the payment is related to the recovery of eleven-point-six billion naira.
While stating that the payments are the first under the Whistleblower Policy, Dambatta explained that the payment is only for recovered assets that have been declared free of legal disputes or litigation by the Attorney-General of the Federation.
Dambatta says the payment underscores the commitment of the President Muhmmadu Buhari-led administration to meet its obligations to information providers under the Whistleblower Policy, which is an essential tool in the fight against corruption.
