Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has ordered security agencies in the state to fish out the killers of the two traditional rulers in the Oke-Ako area, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
Governor Oyebanji, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said security agents have been dispatched to the area to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Oyebanji, who condemned the dastardly act, assured the people of the state that the government would spare nothing to get to the root of the matter.
The two traditional rulers—the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola—were killed in an ambush by armed men while returning from a meeting while the third traditional ruler, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, escaped the attack.
Reacting to this, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi has called on President Bola Tinubu to take up the responsibility of tackling the ravaging security situation in the country coinciding with the gruesome murder of the traditional leader.
Obi stated this in a post on his official X handle on Monday, charging the president to “wake up from his sleeping bed” and tackle the security problems.
He wrote, “We are saddened by the report that Elesun of Esun Ekiti and Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti were murdered earlier today, cause of death: Insecurity and Tinubu.
“We call on Tinubu to wake up from his sleeping bed and save Nigeria from total collapse. Don’t speak up today. Tomorrow, insecurity might consume you or a loved one.”
