Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) took to looting a warehouse allegedly belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday, citing economic hardship as the driving force behind their actions.
The incident, which occurred in the Phase 3 Region of the FCT area in Abuja, saw individuals raiding the warehouse and making away with food items and other supplies.
Confirming the incident, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT command, acknowledged the looting but assured that the situation had been brought under control.
“The situation is now under control,” she said.
In response to the escalating situation, the police in Abuja were swiftly deployed to the area to disperse the looters and restore order. Adeh reiterated that law enforcement had effectively managed the situation.
