In a move aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to engage in discussions with Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Blinken will share insights gained from meetings with Israel’s Arab neighbors during his week-long tour.
The talks will include a session with the war cabinet formed after the October 7 attacks by Palestinian Hamas militants, attributed to causing over one thousand casualties.
Blinken, who has recently visited multiple regional countries, emphasizes the importance of charting a “way forward.”
Blinken also plans to meet families of hostages held by Hamas, stressing the relentless pursuit of their release.
Meanwhile, Israeli President Isaac Herzog expresses gratitude for U.S. support and condemns South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, a move criticized by the U.S. as unhelpful.
