The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has hailed the Osun electorate, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies and relevant stakeholders over the conduct of Saturday’s inconclusive governorship election in the state saying it was largely peaceful despite some reported irregularities.
INEC had declared the election inconclusive on Sunday afternoon saying that the difference between the two leading parties, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was less than the total number of votes cancelled. The PDP, after final collation in Osun, led its closest challenger, APC, by 353 votes while 3,498 votes were cancelled.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Yekini Nabena, the APC commends the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration which has continually exhibited its commitment to ensuring transparent elections, saying this is a departure from the situation under past PDP’s administrations where the people’s will was subverted and elections were manipulated.
It also condemned the PDP for asking the INEC to declare the results of the Osun State governorship election in its favour. The APC, therefore asked the electorates not to lose focus and vote in its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, in the re-run scheduled for September 27.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has once again rescheduled its presidential primary from September 25 to September 27. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, last night, the party said its presidential direct primary election earlier scheduled for tomorrow will now hold on Thursday.
Though the party did not change the dates for governorship and other primaries, its new date for the presidential primary is same as that of the Osun governorship re-run.
The party also announced that duly registered party members can now collect their permanent membership cards from their respective wards. President Muhammadu Buhari is the only presidential aspirant to have purchased the APC form at the N45 million price fixed by the party.
