US strikes 2 facilities linked to Iranian-backed militias in Syria following series of attacks on US forces in Middle East

written by Royal Times of Nigeria October 27, 2023

Syrian opposition Activists say Iran-backed fighters fired rockets at an oil facility housing American soldiers in eastern Syria.

The attack came hours after US fighter jets launched air strikes on two locations linked to Iran’s revolutionary guard corps.  The Pentagon says the strikes were in retaliation for a slew of drone and missile attacks against United States bases and personnel in the region that began early last week.

“Tehran and Iranian senior leaders are funding, arming, equipping, training and directing a whole plethora of militia groups across the region, and they have escalated attacks against US forces since October 17, which is why we took self-defense action tonight,” the official said.

It said United States air strikes earlier Friday wounded seven Iraqi Iran-backed fighters.
