The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has completed its post-UTME screening exercise for the 2023/2024 academic session, with a total of 16,920 out of 18,098 registered candidates participating in the exercise held from Monday, February 19, 2024, to Friday, February 23, 2024.
The computer-based screening took place on the university campus, with candidates commended for their adherence to examination rules throughout the exercise.
Prof Abayomi Omotesho, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), praised the candidates and noted the absence of examination malpractice or impersonation incidents.
According to Omotesho, the screening officially concluded on Thursday, February 22, 2024, with Friday, February 23, 2024, reserved for mop-up sessions to accommodate candidates who were unable to participate within the scheduled dates.
Addressing concerns regarding the prompt release of results, Omotesho attributed the efficiency to the vision of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Wahab Egbewole, SAN, who aims to maintain global best practices in the university’s operations.
Regarding admission status, Omotesho assured candidates that information would be posted on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) once the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) opens CAPS for the process, emphasizing that any admission conducted outside CAPS would be deemed illegal.
He cautioned candidates to beware of scammers and urged them to rely solely on the university’s official platforms for information and communication.
Professor Kamilu Rauf, Director of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre at UNILORIN, expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination, highlighting the absence of technical issues throughout the period. He thanked the university management for its support towards the successful execution of the exercise.
Rauf, a renowned Professor of Mathematics, affirmed the Centre’s readiness to conduct examinations for students of the School of Preliminary Studies from Thursday, February 29, 2024, to Friday, March 1, 2024.
He also confirmed preparedness for undergraduate examinations starting on Monday, March 4, 2024, and assured readiness for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations conducted by JAMB.
