A section of the pedestrian bridge at Alapere Estate in the Ketu area of Lagos collapsed after a collision involving a truck, leaving two individuals injured.
The incident took place around midnight when the truck, loaded with metal and exceeding the height restriction, collided with the bridge, leading to its partial collapse.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the accident and explained that the truck became stuck under the bridge, resulting in structural damage.
The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure in Lagos plans to conduct an integrity test on the remaining sections of the collapsed Ketu Bridge.
Meanwhile, Pedestrians are urging the Lagos state government to expedite the bridge’s completion for the safety of residents.
