A Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has handed down life imprisonment sentences to three individuals—Serikin Fulani of Kwara, Usman Adamu, and Gidaddo Idris.
RoyalTimes gathered that the trio was found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.
The charges stemmed from the abduction of one Abubakar Ahmad, with the perpetrators collecting a ransom of one million naira before releasing the victim after twenty days in captivity. The incident took place in the middle of 2022.
According to reports, the case was meticulously prosecuted by the Kwara State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Idowu Ayoola, who presented a compelling argument against the accused.
In her judgment, Justice Adenike Akinpelu stated that the convicted individuals had conspired to commit the crime. She emphasized that their physical presence at the scene of the kidnapping was immaterial, as their agreement to engage in the criminal act was sufficient for conviction.
