President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, inaugurated the Tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee on Tuesday, urging the 37-member team to expeditiously conclude its assignment and submit its report and recommendations.
The President emphasized the importance of decisions rooted in social justice and equity, instructing the committee to consider the sustainability of the new wage across all tiers of government.
He highlighted the need for the committee to pay attention to the ability of all parties involved to meet the financial obligations associated with the proposed wage increase.
President Tinubu directed the committee to ensure the timely completion of its task, underscoring the significance of the prompt submission of the report to initiate the necessary processes for implementing a new National Minimum Wage.
As reported by TheNation, The President assured the committee of the availability of necessary funding for its assignment, with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy instructed to allocate the essential funds and logistics promptly.
