In response to the devastating attacks that claimed the lives of over 200 people across three local government areas in Plateau State – Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi, President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the immediate establishment of a Military Barracks. The proposed site for this Barracks is in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area.
President Tinubu has entrusted General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, with the responsibility of coordinating the implementation of this critical initiative to address the escalating security challenges in the region.
Former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, had previously initiated efforts to facilitate the establishment of the Barracks in a bid to stem the tide of continuous attacks that have resulted in loss of lives, widespread looting, and destruction of property.
As reported by The Nations, Once operational, the Military Barracks will serve as a rapid response unit to swiftly intervene and address the persistent attacks and killings not only in Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, and Barkin Ladi but also in neighboring Nasarawa State.
