Presidency replies Tambuwal, says President Buhari has demonstrated his fitness for second term by trekking 800 metres

The Presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated his fitness to run for a second term by trekking from the Eid-praying ground in Daura to his private residence.

After the Eid-prayers today, President Buhari shunned protocol and opted to trek some eight hundred metres, acknowledging cheers from Nigerians, who lined up on his home route to catch a glimpse of him.

One of the Presidential aspirants for the 2019 election, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state had last week said that President Buhari is “too old’’ to continue to rule the country beyond 2019.

However, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said the trekking by the president was a positive response to Tambuwal’s diatribe. He urged those campaigning against the President to do so on issues that are of significance to Nigerians and not on the President’s health.
