Approximately ten students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, suffered losses ranging from clothes, books, to important documents due to a fire incident that engulfed a private hostel at Funmidara Cokers Street, Ijebu-Igbo in the Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Alhaji Ademola Balogun, visited the affected students to assess the damage and provide assurance of support.
Governor Abiodun assured the students that relief materials would be provided to help alleviate their losses.
In a statement released on Sunday, Abiodun stated that his administration would continue to respond to the needs of the people, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the wellbeing of students.
The governor disclosed that efforts were being made to collaborate with the university authorities to replace certificates and other vital documents that were consumed by the fire.
‘’The present administration is known for its love and dedication to youths’ welfare, we promise to provide relief materials and temporary accommodation for the affected students pending the time the building will be fixed. I want to thank God that no life was lost in the incident,” he said.
