The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has appealed to the state to expedite action on the implementation of 65 years retirement age for teaching and non-teaching staff in public primary and secondary schools in the state.
The organized labour also urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to act on the request for the elongation of service years of teachers in the state public schools as implemented for their counterparts in federal government own schools.
The state NLC Chairman, Comrade Aliyu Issa Ore, made the plea in Ilorin.
Ore called on the state government to cashback 2017 to 2021 promotion exercise for teaching staff at the state Teaching Service Commission.
The labour leader also pleaded with Governor AbdulRazaq to direct the immediate release of 2017 to 2021 letters of promotion and cashback same for teaching and non-teaching staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
He also implored the state government to speed up payment of 308 percent salary arrears of teachers under the employment of the State Universal Basic Education Board.
