The federal government is spending at least N2.7 billion to sponsor delegates to attend the United Nations’ annual climate summit, COP28, which started in Dubai last Thursday and will continue until at least 12 December.
Nigeria has 1,411 delegates, ranking third among countries with the highest numbers of delegates at the meeting.
Of the 1,411 delegates, 422 were sponsored to attend the conference by the federal government, according to the minister of information.
RoyalTimes gathered that the estimated cost of a to-and-fro flight ticket from Nigeria to Dubai is N2 million.
It added that at this rate, the cost of a two-way flight ticket for 412 people will amount to N824 million.
