The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), on Wednesday, inaugurated a training programme for female founders to promote diversity and close the gender gap in technology.
The Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI), an Abuja-based division of NITDA, launched the programme.
NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, stated this during the program’s debut that it was one of their initiatives to increase digital literacy and give women the skills necessary to succeed in the tech industry.
He stated that the initiative’s goal was to empower and encourage women to use digital technology to create successful, scalable enterprises, adding that in order to eliminate gender imbalances in the tech industry, the agency would support and encourage these tech-based businesses started by women.
“This training programme is dedicated to discovering and highlighting innovative and technology-based concepts, ideas, and solutions created by women in Nigeria.
“The goal is to bridge gender disparities in the technological industry and encourage the creation of digital employment opportunities for women,” he said.
