A twenty seven year-old man, Muideen Shittu, was today sentenced to three months in prison by a Federal High Court in Ibadan for dealing in Indian hemp worth of seven thousand naira.
Justice P.I. Ajoku said that she mitigated the sentence because Shittu pleaded guilty to the offence.
Ajoku said that she also considered the implication of Section 270 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015.
She that, she also takes into consideration of the fact that the convict has given the assurance that he will never go back into such criminality again if duly considered adding that he is a first time offender and could still contribute positively to society.
Ajoku therefore, sentenced shittu to three months in prison and the judgment takes into account from the date that he was first arrested and that the weed substance that was found in his possession will be destroyed.
The Defense Counsel, Mr. Musbau Olapade, pray that the court should temper justice with mercy because his client is now remorseful.
