In a bid to commence construction on the Unity Roundabout Flyover, the Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport on Tuesday said it has diverted vehicular traffic from Challenge down to Olak Filling Station effective immediately.
The move comes after extensive planning and preparation, with the ministry urging motorists and other road users to utilize alternative routes outlined in previous government communications.
According to a statement signed by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Sam Onile, the alternative routes provided by the Ministry include Coca-Cola Road leading down to Stella Obasanjo and Ahmadu Bello Way to Police Road, as well as UMTCA Church down to Offa Garage. Additionally, motorists coming from Emir’s road down to Obbo road have been advised to make a u-turn at Unity Road toward Coca-Cola Road.

Honourable Abdulquawiy Olododo, the Supervisory Commissioner for the Ministry, expressed regret for any inconveniences caused to the general public due to the traffic diversion, emphasizing the necessity of this step to facilitate the timely and efficient construction of the Unity Flyover.
“The Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport has today, February 6, diverted vehicular traffic from Challenge down to Olak Filling Station to pave the way for the commencement of construction of the Unity Roundabout Flyover.
Motorists and other road users are implored to make use of the alternative routes mentioned in the government’s earlier communications. The alternative routes include Coca-Cola Road down to Stella Obasanjo and Ahmadu Bello Way to Police Road; UMTCA Church down to Offa Garage. Motorists coming from Emir’s road down to Obbo road can make a u-turn at Unity Road toward Coca-Cola Road.
