The Kwara State Government has reportedly spent over forty-one billion naira on non-salary expenses, as disclosed in the state’s budget performance reports.
The comprehensive breakdown of the expenditures encompasses various categories, including foreign and domestic travel, Internet access fees, entertainment, foodstuff, honorarium/sitting allowance, wardrobe allowances, telephone bills, electricity charges, stationery, anniversaries/special days, welfare, aircraft maintenance, and more.
The data, meticulously extracted from the budget performance reports, was sourced from Open Nigerian States, a platform supported by budgIT that serves as a repository for government budget data.
According to the report, the Kwara State Government’s non-salary expenses amounted to an astonishing N41.19 billion.
The analysis further disclosed that, collectively, all 36 states in Nigeria expended a staggering N802.43 billion on salaries during the reported period. However, the non-salary expenditures dwarfed this figure, with the states collectively spending a staggering N1.71 trillion on recurrent expenses.
