The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, says the state government is behind Senator Abdul Ningi, the lawmaker who was slammed with a three-month suspension by the Senate on Tuesday.
Speaking on the matter during the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Bauchi, on Wednesday, Mohammed said the development saddened him.
According to him, Senator Ningi’s assertion on the budget was true, stressing that the lawmaker was suspended for standing up for truth.
Meanwhile, Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi on Wednesday said that the suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi by the Senate has not addressed vital issues emanating from his allegation, advising the upper chamber to disclose to Nigerians exact amounts allocated for constituency projects, for appropriate monitoring of implementation by the public.
Obi who made this known in a statement on his official page on Wednesday, said the Senate still owes the Nigerian public a clear clarification over the various claims and counterclaims, including that involving the executive arm of government.
